Day 20: Shorten Meeting Times

Team Love 28 Days Social (5)

Ever wonder who decided that the optimal meeting time block was an hour? Over the years, it's become habitual, almost second nature. "Can I grab an hour of your time?" seems so natural in most work settings.

Yet, in many cases, allowing an hour to dominate as the meeting framework means that much of that time will be devoted to updates or communication that will also happen outside of the session. And if you've ever added up a projected hourly rate for the attendees, it would make most of our heads spin.

Perhaps, for the next month or two, let's try an experiment in shortening the default meeting time. How about 25 or 45 minutes of focused decision-making instead?

There is power in shorter meetings. We just have to expand our mindset to see the benefit.
