Day 21: Make Mentor Moments

As visionary leaders, we can forget what it was like at the beginning of our careers. When talking to the "chief" felt so formal and intimidating -- all business, all of the time. And because we live in the "fast lane", we often want to bottom-line our discussions so we can quickly move to the next item.

Yet, I bet you probably also remember that one person ahead of you, who took the time to get to know you and your goals. Who was curious about why you joined the organization and why you wanted to stay/grow there. Their presence and unhurried manner -- however briefly you were together, made a lasting impression.

It is so easy to get caught up in the urgent -- that we forget the important. These mentor moments stick with team members, indicating through your actions whether our Values about teamwork are real or just platitudes on the wall.
