Day 23: Constantly Onboarding

Team Love 28 Days Social (10)

Think back to when you first joined the organization. That very first day and perhaps the first week. A whirlwind of paperwork, introductions, and tours to help you navigate both the office and your new responsibilities. Often, the formal onboarding process ends and the team member is left to fend for themselves ways to become most effective in their work.

Yet, this is the moment that decides whether a person will stay or go when the going gets tougher (and it will). What if onboarding and intentional orientation continued for three months, six months, or a year?

Many of our organizations use "drip campaigns" to help orient and engage new prospects in our marketing efforts. Ask recent new hires about the things they wished they had known a year later -- and include those tips in an internal marketing "drip campaign" to introduce our new hires on the best ways to engage in our culure.

Invite their suggestions about onboarding and organizational improvement -- building a culture of feedback and engagement. Learning never stops, and perhaps onboarding could continue as well.
