These terms have been hanging around for years and you’ve probably heard of them and may even have read the book, Mindset: The New Psychology of Success, by Carol Dweck where they stem from. Dweck wrote: “As you begin to understand the fixed and growth mindsets, you will see exactly how one thing leads to another—how a belief that your qualities are carved in stone leads to a host of thoughts and actions, and how a belief that your qualities can be cultivated leads to a host of different thoughts and actions, taking you down an entirely different road.” As you build a For Love of Team business, you need to have a growth mindset. You can’t hold yourself back imagining what the possible success or failure says about you. You need to look at each opportunity as a growth opportunity. Asking yourself what are you learning in the situation? Entering into a guided, coached conversation about mindset allows you to see exactly where you may be holding yourself back and gives you the tools to move forward as captain of your ship. Mindset is a HUGE part of being a leader. And it’s a topic that I love talking about.
